Barrister Bookcases
Barrister bookcases were originally made for lawyers,
government officials and many others who worked every day with books. Typically,
the books used were very valuable, so a style of
bookcase developed that allowed for books to be protected
from light, dust and other damage. Frequently barrister bookcases were made
so that they were modular bookcases that could be stacked. Many barrister bookcases
were made of oak, but manufacturers also made them from
other types of wood and even made steel versions. While
most of the businesses that made original barrister bookcases are no longer
in business; and unfortunately Carmel Bookcases does not make barrister bookcases.
