Bookcase Ladders
One problem with built-in bookcases is access to books. If you have a very high set of built-ins, the bookcases contain books that are hard to reach in the top areas. This is particuarly true to the
extent that you have bookcases taller than eight feet, which is the de facto maximum height for most bookcases (because of construction methods). However, with custom bookcases, higher
bookcase heights can be achieved, as much as ten feet or even more. Unless you rate a place in the Guiness Book of World Records, it's hard to reach the books at the top. Therefore, a ladder or some other means of reaching the book is necessary. While some people use portable ladders, it's easier to use an integral or rollling ladder.
While Carmel Bookcases does not itself provide such ladders (we focus on providing the best custom built-in and freestanding bookcases), there are some providers of ladder bookcases, which you can find with a judicious search for bookcase ladders.
