Carmel Bookcases specializes in creating top quality custom bookcases. We specialize in custom built-in bookcases and freestanding bookcases. We offer custom bookcases in a variety of fine woods and finishes.

Can I find out how much your products cost without talking to someone on your staff?	Yes. We encourage "window shopping," and we know that price is a critical factor in any person's shopping decision. So we make it easy for you: just visit our bookcases pricing page for an exact price for what you need, whether built-ins or freestanding bookcases.
Where does Carmel Bookcases offers its services?	We offer our services nationwide.

Do you make bookcases with doors?	Yes; please see our galleries of bookcase pictures for examples.
Do you make bookcases higher than 8 feet?	No; due to our bookcase construction techniques we are limited to a height of eight feet.

Our designers work with you at no cost to determine your exact needs. You send us the necessary dimensions and we manufacture custom bookcases and ship them to you. We offer top-quality work at a reasonable price.
How do your built-in bookcases work?	Our built-in bookcases are designed to be completely flexible. Therefore, they are very similar to our freestanding bookcases, but designed to be set next to each other and have crown and base molding applied. This gives you the flexibility to either use them as built-ins, or to use them as moveable freestanding bookcases. You can even disassemble them and re-install them as built-ins in a new location! How much carpentry skill does having builtin bookcases require?	More than a beginner and less than an expert. To install by yourself, you need basic finish carpentry ability, such as the ability to measure a room, locate wall studs, and cut and nail molding. All bookcases, freestanding and built-in, need to be attached to a wall for safety.
What if I don't have any carpentry skill?	We recommend that you find a local finish carpenter (there should be many in the Yellow Pages) to help you.
Will you come to my home to look at my space and discuss my needs?	We are not able to do so; we sell nationwide but we only have staff in the Midwest. However, our design staff is always available to consult with you by telephone or email, and they are happy to examine digital photos to analyze your space and needs.

Why invest in bookcases?	Bookcases add value to your home. They make your home distinctive, setting it apart from otherwise similar homes. They enhance the use and prestige of your home while you live there. When you leave, built-ins are a compelling selling point to purchasers, and freestanding bookcases can be taken with you.
How long will it take for me to get my furniture?	This depends on the type and number of bookcase units ordered. All bookcases are built to order. Typically, units are shipped about 6 months after receipt of order. However, this time may vary. We will keep you updated and advise you when your order is ready to ship.
Do you accept credit cards?	No, we only accept cash or money orders.
Do I have to pay in advance?	No. We only require payment when your bookcases actually leave our facility. When you place an order you will be asked to sign a brief contract outlining our respective responsibilities.
How much does packing and shipping bookcases cost?	$150 per piece for any location in the continental United States. Bookcases are packed by specialists in packing and shipped by common carrier with curbside delivery. Please see our shipping page for more details.

What should I be thinking about when I'm considering bookcases?	You should do the following: 1. Identify whether you want built-ins or freestanding bookcases.
