Oak Bookcases
Oak solid wood bookcases are THE most common
choices for the discerning buyer. Oak is a traditional North American hardwood
used for bookshelves; its clean,
"classic" look is also
associated with traditional library bookcases and the
look of formal English estate homes. You can recreate that look in your home
by a judicious use of oak book cases and oak finishing.
Choosing oak, however, requires careful evaluation of
staining. Stained furniture that is oak can
require a special ability for the staining, though--oak
is a difficult wood to stain, and a professional and delicate hand
is required. We have that expertise; Carmel Bookcases has long experience with
all kinds of finishes and woods,
including oak bookcases.
Oak is a hardwood; it is available from Canada,
the United States and several other northern countries, although unlike some
other bookshelf woods, it is not grown in the tropics.
